Sloped Wall Framing Tips

  • Linear interpolation: Each stud height is calculated proportionally between left and right heights.
  • Cutting order: Cut longest studs first, then use waste pieces for shorter studs when possible.
  • Top plate: For sloped walls, top plates follow the slope. Double plates are parallel to each other.
  • Marking studs: Number each stud and mark its position on both plates before cutting.
  • Slope calculation: Rise/Run = (Right Height - Left Height) / Wall Length
  • Safety: Use proper bracing for sloped walls during construction as they can be unstable.

Waste Optimization

Total cutting waste: 168.0 inches. Consider purchasing longer lumber and cutting multiple studs from single pieces to reduce waste.
